• GULAY NA SAYOTE (Chayote With Pork and Shrimp)
  • Ingredients: 4 pounds chayotes 1 pound pork butt, cut into strips 1 cup water 2 tablespoons oil 1 clove garlic, chopped 2 onions, cut into thin wedges 4 tomatoes, cut into thin wedges 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon MSG 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Procedure: Peel chayotes and dice. Place pork in saucepan. Add water, bring to boil and boil, uncovered, until water cooks away and pork browns lightly in drippings that remain. Heat oil in Dutch oven (pan). Add garlic, onions, tomatoes and pork. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add chayotes, salt, pepper and MSG. Cover and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Add shrimp and cook 5 minutes or until pink. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
